The costly call

A rained-out day still costs you

A rained-out day still costs you the drive, the crew and a rebooked customer. "30% chance of rain" doesn't say whether your four hours will stay dry.

How it works

From your place to an answer

  1. Add your place

Search for a US town, address or ZIP code.

  2. Pick a job or set your own

Pick a ready-made job — mortar, pressure washing, moving day, a market stall, hay — or set your own limits.

  3. See your windows

See the next windows, the chance each one holds, and what's limiting it.

Questions

Asked before you start

How is this different from a weather app?

A weather app shows one forecast. This checks every hour of your job against your limits in each of up to 146 forecast runs and tells you the share that pass.

Can I keep a record for a customer, insurer or inspector?

Yes. Log a window and the decision log keeps what the forecast showed: the verdict, the share of forecast runs that passed and the conditions, with your note. Export it to CSV whenever you need it.

Where do the default limits come from?

Each one shows its source. Most say "Starting point — set your own" because no standard exists for that job; change them to match your materials and gear.

What data does it use?

It pools up to 146 forecast runs from three independent forecast systems and judges them run by run, plus a single hourly forecast for cloud, visibility and soil, refreshed through the day.

I do this for a living — is there more?

Some trades have their own edition with rules for that trade; the job card links to it.
