The costly call

A wasted spray or a frost delay costs real money

Fungicide is a real line in the maintenance budget, and a frost delay pushes the whole tee sheet back. One forecast line can't tell you whether Thursday's spray window will hold or whether the greens will be white at your first tee time.

4.3%

share of the average 18-hole maintenance budget ($999,585 in 2023) spent on fungicides

Questions

Asked before you start

How is this different from a weather app or my disease-model app?

It runs dollar spot on every forecast run that publishes humidity, and frost and spray limits on every forecast run, and gives you the share that pass, days ahead, not just one model line.

Can I keep a record of my spray calls?

Yes. Log a window and the decision log keeps the verdict, the share of forecast runs that passed and the conditions the forecast showed, with your note. Export it to CSV whenever you need it.

Is the dollar spot model the real Smith-Kerns?

Yes: the published equation and coefficients from the University of Wisconsin Turfgrass Diagnostic Lab, with its 10–35 °C active range.

What data does it use?

It pools up to 146 forecast runs for your course from three independent forecast systems, judged run by run and refreshed through the day, plus season-to-date temperature for GDD.

Does it detect lightning?

No. Use your lightning detection system for play suspension.
